Dental Implants

Dental implants, also known as endosseous implants or implanted teeth, are devices that are surgically placed into the bone to act as an artificial tooth root. This is done in order to support a dental prosthetic such as a crown, bridge, denture or full denture. Dental implants can be made of various materials including titanium and plastics and even human and animal bone.

Dental implants are replacement teeth that can be used to replace either one or several natural teeth. To put simply, a dental implant is a replacement tooth root which is made from titanium and which has been surgically inserted into the upper part of your mouth (the maxilla) or lower jaw (the mandible). A crown is then attached to the top of this structure. This looks exactly like a ‘real’ tooth and will function in precisely the same way as well.
