Gingival Abscess

Gingival Abscess

Gingival abscesses are often swollen and painful; deep ones may be sensitive to touch. They can form when plaque buildup continues unchecked around a tooth or between teeth, leading to infection of the gum tissue around them. Although any type of tooth can have an abscess, they are most common among molars because they have sharp chewing edges that cut into the gums more readily than other types of teeth.
