Abrasion
Dental abrasion is the damage caused to the surface enamel of a tooth by something rubbing against it. Dental abrasion is a very common condition and can affect people of all ages from infancy through adulthood. Dental abrasion can cause fractures to the surface enamel layer which exposes the next protective layer called dentin under it. It also leaves microscopic cracks in the outer layers that allow bacteria to enter into the areas between the layers and cause infection leading towards gum disease.
