Periodontitis

Periodontitis

Periodontitis is an infection in your gums and bones around your teeth. It happens when bacteria build up on and under your gums and attach to and destroy your teeth’s foundation, causing bone deterioration and eventual root loss.

Periodontitis is the most common chronic inflammatory disease in adults. The only way to diagnose periodontitis is through a dentist’s clinical examination with special emphasis on probing depths and other measures such as radiographs (x-rays), which will help determine if this condition exists.
