Dry Socket

Dry Socket

Dry socket is a type of dentistry term used to describe an unpleasant situation. It’s when after you have had a tooth pulled, the blood clot in the tooth socket doesn’t form properly and starts to decay. This can cause pain, swelling and other unattractive mouth problems.

This happens because there isn’t the blood flow that was present before the extraction. The blood flow stimulates bone tissue which helps create new cells for healing. When this doesn’t happen, it will take longer for the wound to heal completely.
