De-osseointegration

De-osseointegration

De-osseointegration is a condition in which the implants are removed because of infection, implant failure, or other reasons. This may be done to treat the patient’s jaw bone infection, to replace the implant with an improved device, to help cure certain types of cancer, or even just due to cosmetic concerns. The decision when and if to remove an implant is a complicated one that should be made after careful consideration of the patient’s circumstances and preferences, as well as consultation with a wide variety of health care professionals.
