Bruxism
Bruxism is a disorder that causes the human body to involuntarily clench or grind one’s teeth. This condition often goes undiagnosed because many people are unaware of their bruxism unless they suffer from sleep deprivation, headaches, and/or tooth pain. These symptoms usually only arise when the person realizes they have been clenching or grinding their teeth in their sleep.
Bruxism is more than just teeth grinding; it is an unconscious act during which the airway is compromised by blocking the flow of air into and out of the lungs through the mouth. The most common cause for this behaviour is emotional stress.
