In most cases, only 4 to 6 implants are used to support an entire row of teeth. A full mouth implant restoration can keep a complete set of replacement teeth in the mouth with as few as eight dental implants.

Full arch implant restoration can provide a more natural-looking and feeling permanent solution to missing teeth than traditional options. In this article, we’ll learn more about the entire arch and its benefits, as well as other options for restoring your beautiful smile.

What Is A Full-Arch Implant Restoration?

The full-arch implant restoration procedure entails placing titanium implants in the jaw bone. These act as anchors for a full dental bridge made up of artificial teeth, providing complete tooth replacement.

Because this technique can provide the same structural support as traditional single implant treatments with fewer implants and incisions, the overall treatment and recovery times are significantly reduced.

What’s The Difference Between Full-arch Implants And Dentures That Can Be Removed?

Dentures have traditionally been the most common treatment option for replacing missing teeth. Dentures, while a great solution, can be uncomfortable to wear and come with dietary restrictions, such as avoiding crunchy or sticky foods. Cleaning is required daily, and it must replace every few years.

Full-arch implant restorations are a fantastic option for replacing teeth with a more natural appearance and feel. Because they act as roots for natural teeth, they feel much more natural when chewing and won’t shift around in your mouth. Implants can be brushed and flossed twice a day, just like natural teeth, and with proper care, they can last a lifetime.

What Happens At The Consultation?

Our Brisbane dentists will provide you with all the information you need about dental implants during your initial complimentary consultation. This includes what the procedure entails, how much it costs, and any potential risks of implants so you can make an informed decision about whether complete arch implant restoration is suitable for you.

If you go with teeth implants, we’ll schedule a second consultation for a diagnosis. Our dentists will perform a comprehensive oral health examination, including x-rays, to determine whether full mouth dental implants are a viable option for you or if you have an existing dental problem that you must address first.

Our dentists can then collaborate with you to create a treatment plan that is unique to you.

What Happens During The Full-mouth Implant Procedure?

Our dentists will go over everything you need to know about the full-arch implant procedure with you. This treatment can be completed in a single visit in some cases, but it depends on the individual patient.

There are five stages to a full arch implant restoration, which can be completed in one or multiple appointments:

  1. We’ll give you local anesthesia so you won’t feel any pain during the procedure. If you’re worried about dental treatments and need some help to relax, you can talk to your dentist about additional sedation options.
  2. Extraction – You will need to have any remaining teeth extracted before the teeth implant can be placed. Temporary provisional teeth may be used. Continue your teeth implant treatment after your mouth has healed if several teeth need to be extracted or if you notice signs of gum disease or infection.
  3. Implant placement – If your mouth is ready for implants, our dentists will clean and disinfect the implant sites to prevent infection. After that, we’ll carefully make incisions in your gums and secure the titanium implants in your jaw. In most cases, two implants are placed in the front of the mouth and two in the back, but depending on the size and condition of your jaw, you may require additional implants.
  4. Following the placement of the implants, we will clean and disinfect the treated areas before attaching your artificial dental bridge. Our dentists will design these replacement teeth to look as natural as possible and securely anchored by the implants.
  5. After that, you can go to the recovery room to recover from the anesthetic, making sure to avoid strenuous activity and follow your dentist’s food and pain management recommendations.

How Long Does It Take For Full Arch Implants To Heal?

Full mouth implant restoration recovery is usually faster than standard dental implant recovery, but it can still take 3 to 6 months to recover fully.

You will be given gauze on the day of surgery to help control bleeding from the implant sites. Until the bleeding stops, this gauze should be changed every 30 minutes. For the first day after treatment, you should avoid touching your mouth except for rinse gently with water or an antibacterial rinse.

Following your dentist’s advice and doing the following will increase your chances of making a full recovery.

  • Soft food consumption
  • Getting enough sleep and avoiding strenuous activities
  •  No smoking

Who Is A Good Candidate For This Procedure?

This treatment is an excellent alternative to complete dentures, but it does necessitate a certain amount of jawbone structure for the dental implants to be placed. Once you have sufficient jawbone structure, the appropriate number of implants will be placed (usually four to six, but this can vary depending on your needs). Some patients may need as many as eight.

Did You Know That Implants Come In A Variety Of Shapes And Sizes?

Dental implant treatments and dental implants come in various shapes and sizes. The dental implant treatment and technology that is best for you will be determined by multiple dental factors, including the number of teeth you have lost and the health of your jaw.

When It Comes To Dental Implants, How Long Do They Last?

Dental implants have been known to last over 40 years. Other evidence suggests that dental implants can last a lifetime if you brush, floss, and maintain good oral hygiene.
